Upcoming Classes

Thank you to all who visited us during the 2010 Carolina Shop Hop, Blooming in the Carolina's and we hope you will be back soon!  And welcome to all newcomers to our e-mail list and to our website.  Please come in to take advantage of classes, special sales and events.  Here are our upcoming classes and the winners of the Shop Hop prizes.

Upcoming Classes

Unless otherwise specified, bring your sewing machine with quarter inch foot, snips or small scissors, cotton thread in a neutral color, glass head pins, seam ripper and any other basic sewing supplies you prefer to use. Make sure your sewing machine is in good working condition and the tension is good.

Buckeye Beauty: Thursday, August 12th from 5 to 9 p.m.; Cost, $25 for the class (including the facility and a light supper); $9 for the pattern; $15 for the ruler (optional) and fabrics. This is a beau tiful, classic quilt also known as Jewel Box. This class was rescheduled from an earlier date. Instructor, Jennifer Adams.

French Braid Christmas Tree Skirt: This is the perfect time to start on those custom Christmas projects. Thursday, August 19th from 5 to 9 p.m. from the book, French Braid Obsession by Jane Hardy Miller at our Across the Street Retreat, Thursday, August 19th from 5 to 9 p.m.. Book, $21.95, materials and $25 for the facility and light supper.

Nine Patch Gone Crazy: A quick and easy project for a speedy fast quilt you can give as a gift or keep for yourself. Saturday, August 21st from 9 to 11 a.m.; Cost, $15 plus fabric. Instructor, Terre Sexton. Drop by to see the sample

Around the Block and Back Again: A circular, raw edge quilt that’s fast and easy. Saturday, September 18th from 9 to 11 a.m.; Cost, $15 plus fabric. Instructor, Terre Sexton. Stop by the see the sample.

Country Tote: We had classes in this cute patchwork tote five years ago and it was quite a popular little project. We’re bringing it back again. It is so cute and versatile in fall colors, black and white or bright’s. Make a fabric handle using the directions in the pattern or choose our wooden handles instead. Tuesday, August 31st from 5 to 7:30 p.m.; Cost, $10 plus pattern, $8.50 and fabric.

We would like to welcome our new customers who have joined our newsletter list and we hope you will join us for upcoming classes and take advantage of our sale next weekend! We also have just gotten in Moda’s Botany created by our own local designer, Jesse Jung and her daughter, Lauren and it is beautiful for spring quilts and projects! Jesse will be here April 24th for a trunk show!

Botany for Moda by Lauren and Jesse Jung! We’re so excited to have this beautiful line of fabric in designed by a local quilter and friend and her talented daughter. Join us Saturday, April 24th when Jesse will present a trunk show of Botany. Come in to see the line, meet Jesse and receive a free pattern.

Upcoming Classes at Inman Quilt Cottage

Join us for the following upcoming classes! Bring your machine and basic sewing supplies. Please come in ahead of time to register and choose your fabrics.

Beginning Quilting: Make a rail fence wallhanging or table topper. Thursday’s April 29th, May 6th and 13th from 5:30 to 7:30. Cost, $25 plus book, Start Quilting by Alex Anderson, $14.95 plus fabric.

Lucky Stars: A fat quarter scrappy quilt with stars and strips using the pattern by Atkinson Designs, . Tuesday’s, May 4th, 11th and 18th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Cost, $20 plus pattern, $8 and 12 fat quarters.

Across the Street Retreat! Slice and Dice: A visually stunning little quilt using a simple concept of squares and strips using the pattern by Karen West from For the Love of Fabric. Thursday, May 20th from 5 to 9 p.m. across the street at the Inman Presbyterian Church Social Hall. Cost, $25 plus the pattern, $8.50 plus fabrics.

Paper Piecing: Learn the technique of paper piecing a beautiful kaleidoscope block which makes a stunning quilt. Thursday, May 6th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cost, $10 plus fabric. The pattern we are using is from Marcia Hohn’s website, The Quiter’s Cache.

Upcoming Shows:

Foothills Piecemaker Quilting Guild Show next weekend, April 16th and 17th at Morningside Baptist Church , 1115 Pelham Road, Greenville; 10 to 5:30 Friday and 10 to 4 Saturday.

Making History: Quilts—Then and Now: The show will feature a vintage quilt display and lots of vendors including Becky.

Mark your calendars for the 2010 Carolina Shop Hop, Blooming in the Carolina’s July 9th through 17th! It continues to grow every year! Join in the fun!

 

Local Guilds and Quilt Groups:

Landrum Quilters: Meet monthly on the second Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Gowensville Community Center, 14186 Hwy. 11 near the intersection of Hwy. 14. The group hosts a bi-annual show, participates in philanthropic projects for the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville and Steps to Hope in Columbus, NC. Monthly programs include speakers and projects. Piedmont Piecers Quilt Guild, Spartanburg: Meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Spartanburg YMCA on Pine Street at 6:30 p.m. Monthly meetings include show and tell, educational programs and speakers, special projects and swaps. The group participates in philanthropic projects and community events. Yearly dues are $25.

Foothills Piecemakers Quilting Guild, Taylors: Meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at Grace Baptist Church, 5020 Old Spartanburg Road, Taylors. The group hosts a bi-annual quilt show and their upcoming show is listed above in the upcoming events section. Website: www.foothillquilts.com. Yearly dues, $20.

Rutherford Quilt Guild, Rutherford, NC: Meets the 2nd Monday each month at First Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, NC at 7:00 p.m.  Each month we have an educational program, speakers, show and tell and special projeccts.  The guild participates in community service projects and events.  Yearly dues are $20.00.  Website:  www.rutherfordquiltguild.org.
